Downside of Ministry Among Overseas Students

I just browsing the contact numbers on mobile phone, then I came to the number of a Pelita guy who has just left us to Indo just recently. With a sad feeling, I deleted his numbers from my mobile phone’s memory.

The hard thing being with overseas students is some of them have to go somewhere else after they have finished uni. It became easier in the past few 2-3 years as the number of Pelita people returning/or going to Spore was diminishing, but now that the Indo economic is starting to get better(I hope), no doubt that there will be more Pelitan going back to Indo.

Having them returning to Indo is a good thing, provided that they will use what they have learnt here to serve among Indonesians and they will continue to grow as christians. But I am afraid about whether they would survive as christian there, will they continue to be faithful, will they grow in their love and knowledge of Christ or they just become pew-sitters in church, or worst come worst they will fall away eaten by business of life and the tempation of greed and consumerism. I feel like haven’t done enough for them.

God is sovereign, I can commit them in prayers, who knows my fear will not turn out to be true, who knows in few years time when I meet them, I still can call them brothers and sisters in Christ.

I don’t know whether you check this or not…but I’ll post my message anyway 🙂

hehe….as I said before…our economic will be fine :)……oh well, #sigh# there is a time to meet and time to say goodbye…..hopefully you and Lina will grow up in Christ…of course, I bet…

Before I came here, I never think about GOD and put GOD’s in the center of my life and my earthly purpose is to get a lot of money….BUT well #sigh# hehe…seems I didn’t go to wrong CHURCH…in FOCUS I learn the opposite….*who can I blame for this :p hehe*…

guess now it will depend on which girl will like me….if she is GODly then YOU can still call me brother and sister in CHRIST later when we meet….BUT if she is not GODly, trust me I’ll try my best turn her GODly…but not guarantee she will GODly like ci Lina :p….

hehe~~ both of you are lucky :)…hope still can call you brother and sister in CHRIST later on 🙂 when I go to Sydney again.

    Weow a.k.a Johnny Sutanto 🙂

    Dear Weow,

Your life and future should not be determined by the girl that likes you, gees.. don’t be so pessimistic man, seek first the kingdom of God, Jesus said..

In fact, the fact that you are christian should determine what sort of girl you will be with, even if the prettiest and nicest girl in the world happens to like you, but if she is not a believer, you know what to do. If you believe that word of God is above all, you don’t have to worry, even if you end up being single and able to be godly, Paul in 1 Cor 8 said that’s even better coz you can do more God’s work.

I truly believe, eventhough you go back to Indo and then come back to Sydney, we would still be able to call each other brothers. After all nothing will be able to seperate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus(Rom 8:39).

But that doesn’t mean that after leaving Focus you should slacking in your relationship with God, on the contrary you should be inspired to put all the knowledge and training that you have had in Australia to help bros and sis in Indo and to call more people into His kingdom.

yeah weow, I would like us to be brothers in Christ till the end of time 🙂 I hope when you do go back to Indo, you would be able to encourage ex-Pelitans there..

wow, you read it. I didn’t expect you read it.:)
hey, who said I’ll go back to indo….most probably will go to US….less probably to europe…

hey, from my experience. I won’t repeat same mistake I made…..so if there is beautiful and pretiest girl in the world happen to like me…I’ll take her :)…I’ll try my best to change her later…hopefully….of course, you can still call me brother in CHRIST…I just don’t know if you can call my future wife like that……but yeah, I’ll keep my faith and spread gospel anywhere I land, regardless who I will be married to……:)
