A job for christians

I was thinking of the kind of secular job that will help christians with their real job. My current job as a data entry operator (altho only 10% of it that requires constant typing.. ) is somehow one of a very good job for christians.

It’s good because:
1. It starts at 7am and finishes at 3pm. Thus it requires me to sleep early (about 10.30 ish every nite), thus it somehow limits me from wasting my time playing warcraft :>. And after get back from work, I am free for some christian things, like 1 on 1 meetings and training (.. altho my study is somehow get in the way of me doing more ministry.. sigh, looking forward to drop the whole master thing or finishing it).
2. It doesn’t require a lot of energy, sorting mails, opening envelopes, typing and then generating reports.. ah so easy..
3. Lots of Indos working there.. praying, building relationships, in hoping that will be able to invite them to church, I think half of them profess in being christians, yet the fruits are hard to see in the workplace.. hm, i should ask myself whether ppl can see that I am a christian..
4. I think the pay is quite reasonable too, one of my colleague, has three children and a mortgage, and he doesn’t look like someone who is needy.. in fact he’s probably the most cheerful guy in our department.
Have been asking some pelita ppl to join me there, as there is opening with one major project coming up.

Although I often mentioned to people that I am sick of customer service role, I can see how a customer service/sale role is actually beneficial for christian. In a customer service position, you’d learn how to overcome your shyness, how to talk to people/engage them in conversation, how to build relationship with customers, how to handle different type of personalities.. My training and experience with both David Jones and Westpac is the one that I thank God for, coz I can see that it affects my christian life as well. So yeah, maybe there is a reason why I am not getting IT roles but got customer service roles “easily”.

Those Westpac training files are loaded with good stuffs.. I am pretty sure the skills taught there are easily transferrable in christian context.

hmmm… maybe you can then teach some “customer service” skills to ppl in pelita (and maybe even focus) in relation to evangelism, maybe you can even give a short talk to ppl doing 2w2l in focus team in how to talk to strangers etc :]
