The win is very good for Australia’s soccer as currently soccer doesn’t enjoy the popularity of other football codes in Australia.
I do think, that Uruguay surpasses Australia in terms of skills and organisation. And I always have problem with how rough the Australian team plays, well the 1st half anyway, as if they’re trying to provoke the other team. Socceroos were lucky not to concede from the dead balls, Recoba is a genius. I almost went to cheer the Uruguay coz I just can’t enjoy the way the Socceroos play. Fortunatelly, that they started to show some world class soccer in the 2nd half (thanks to Kewell).
I wonder whether with the inclusion of Australia instead of Uruguay, will it make World Cup less interesting? I don’t want to sound too negative, but really, judging on the performance during the Conf Cup where Australia didn’t win any game, can they really do something in the World Cup (do they deserve to be there)? Can they win any game? 😛 It’s a mix feeling for me, I like Australia to go to the World Cup, but I don’t think the have the standard yet to be there.
Well, one thing that I hope is that they’d perform well for the sake of Australia’s soccer.
Don’t worry, there are plenty of superb teams who’s going to play in WC2006. Uruguay might’ve won the World Cup twice but that was in 1930 and 1950. Australia won’t go very far but no one will complain.

Lol, I guess you’re right. If there ever be a fairytale in the World Cup, I want an Asian country like Japan or Korea to make it though :P.
Dare I say that they are technically better teams than Socceroos?
If the Korean team plays like last time, I hope they will lose. I think Japan team is more deserving to go to next round than the Korean. They don’t have good defence, I guess.
