Youth on fire

Just discussed with umin abt the picnic this saturday. Very encouraging to be hearing abt Erik, Rusmin and several Pelita youngsters that are involved with this year’s mission on UNSW. Hopefuly, they’ll always be on fire for God and worries of life will not dampen their spirits just like what happened to some of us (I am one of them). Very encouraged, I’m priviledged to work with them.

Da Vinci Code

Finished reading Da Vinci Code yesterday after a week reading. It’s a so-so book.
I was dissapointed with:n1. the lack of good storyline. It’s a chase around and solving puzzles kinda book, if you enjoy watching National Treasure (which also I dislike strongly) you will enjoy the book. n2. well what can I say, the inaccuracies here and there, can’t be helped I suppose, this is a fiction book not a history book. For instance it’s stated that YHWH was derived from Jehovah, where it should be the other way around. It’s also stated that the Catholic Church was trying to lower the woman position that’s why Mary Magdalene didnt get recoqnition she deserved etc2, but what about Mary the mother of Jesus?? The author seems to forget that she was said by the Catholic church to be equal with Jesus in redemption (co-redemptrix) -> thus elevating a woman more than she should be??
I would probably still want to watch the movie, but this book definetely not one of the readings that I enjoy. Too much speculations to the point of ridicolous. I was surprised how the author pushed forward the idea of “restoring the feminime position in the humanity” so strongly throughout the book, in fact I think that’s the whole point of the book. I was even more surprised that this is Da Book that has spent months on best selling lists.
On the lighter side, it’s been long time since I’ve read fictions, I think i want to start reading again (fiction or non fiction). Reading is better than playing computer games I suppose?

Kukatakan dengan indah

I am currenlty hooked to Peterpan, an Indonesian rock band, I love their album “bintang di surga” and apart from “Ada apa denganmu”, I really like “Kukatakan dengan indah”, it has a haunting guitar riff that’s really cool (doh it’s actually just a D chord!)!

Thelogian Quiz

I am 80% Anselm (is this good or bad??), although I never knew Anselm nor his work (i’ve heard him mentioned on Chenny’s blog before??).

You scored as Anselm. Anselm is the outstanding theologian of the medieval period. He sees man’s primary problem as having failed to render unto God what we owe him, so God becomes man in Christ and gives God what he is due. You should read ‘Cur Deus Homo?’

Source Card and Flybuys

Just got aSource Card from Coles, now I’m thinking on how can I make the best use of this card. Basically two benefits from using this card:n1. 2 cents discount fuel on every $30 spent on a purchase on Source card on Coles Myer stores (with up to 4 discounts every month). Myer will give you 4 cents discount for purchase over $30, so that will give you a total of 6 cents savings on petrol. n2. 4 Flybuys points to be earned for every $5 spent in again Myer stores.
It sounds good, but really people should be aware not to change their shopping pattern based on these discounts, shopping on Myer stores (Coles supermarket included) is not always the cheapest option. Working out whether the saving on petrol is worth do your shopping in Coles does require a careful calculation.. I am too lazy to do so now 🙂 They gave some 4 cents fuel discount voucher, again with the attachement that they must be presented with $30 shopping docket. DOH! So I must at least spend $30 on Coles in order to get the total 8 cents fuel discount.. A bit dodgy.
