To X Y is to Y X

We all know that: “To fail to plan is to plan to fail”, and today I saw Arie’s MSN message: “You ca
ot believe what you know until you know what you believe”. I wonder whether you can generate random believable quotes by taking two words and then reversing their order.
It reminds me of a conversation in Mystery Men:
Mr. Furious: Okay, am I the only one who finds these sayings just a little bit formulaic? “If you want to push something down, you have to pull it up. If you want to go left, you have to go right.” It’s…
The Sphinx: Your temper is very quick, my friend. But until you learn to master your rage…
Mr. Furious: …your rage will become your master? That’s what you were going to say. Right? Right?

Resume

Someone has asked me help to improve his resume. It is actually a hard work to write someone else’s resume. No wonder there are people who work as professional resume writer.

Stringing

My guitar’s sixth string broken 2 days ago, so I decided to re-string the whole guitar. I’ve had my guitar for more than 6 years now and I’ve never replaced any of its strings, so I guess my guitar is really overdue for strings replacement.
Apparently, I can choose different thickness for each of the strings. I have no idea on what thickness I would want, and it probably means nothing to me anyway. So I just look for the cheap set of strings. I bought Gibson Masterbuilt Premium (can’t go wrong for a Gibson right?) for $15.00 a discounted price of $15.95. It says ultra light gauge on the package, so I guess next time I can go for the heavier one and see what’s the difference. The strings are 10,12,22,27,36,47 (1st to 6th).
Took me few hours to work out how to remove the old strings and put the new ones in. As usual, Google is the source of information on how to do this. I am still not sure whether I did a proper job, but anyhow the new strings are in place and I have tuned them. I love the crisp sound of the new strings, definetely better from the old ones, but since everyone is sleeping now I can’t really hammer them, will have to wait for tomorrow. I now need a wire cutter to cut the excess string.
Just watched Vodafone Live at the Chapel, featuring Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer and a drummer (whoever he is). I like his singing better than Liam. The songs on slower tempo with acoustic settings are really good. Hope they will make a DVD or CD out of it.

Last day

Last day at S3Group today, well the last 20 minutes. It will be weird not coming back to this office next Monday. It’s quite sad too to leave, but it is inevitable. Would like to stay a bit longer but in the end I couldn’t.nnIf there is one character that I can get out of this job, that would be persistence. I think persistence is a good character that a programmer should have. Persist and persevere hacking open source codes.nnIf there is one thing that I regret from this job, that would be not enough relating to my workmates. I would love to have a weekly coffee thing and discuss stuffs job related or not, ok note to self, this is actually a good idea if I ever become a boss.

Your job is either..

Boring or stressful, a wise observation from Karen Ng. If I have to choose between the two, I’d go for the boring one I suppose.
Can I get a boring but well paid job please? Hang on, that’s my old data entry job!! I believe that’s the best position I’ve ever had in terms dollar/hours and even dollar/effort. Come to think of it, there are some perm data entry jobs for $45k, that’s a lot of money for not doing much!
Never really been into a stressful job, unless maybe when I was teller-ing for WBC. But even that, it’s still ok, I don’t think I’ve ever dragged myself to go to work.
I just realised how much I blog about job, money and stuffs, was wondering when people read this blog, will they think that money, success and job are all that matter for me? Hm, well maybe they were (or are?), but having experienced the sudden death of my dad, it does put things into perspective a little bit more.
