Thoughts on Stuffs

Volvo Ad
I see the volvo ads on bus stops almost everyday when I go to work, there is one ad that shows a face of a “person” with glasses, that person looks like a woman if you just glance at it, but he/she has a moustache. But that’s not the most confusing part of the volvo campaign, the most confusing thing is: how is the ad make people to want to be “bloody volvo drivers”?? What is the point??? I seriously don’t get it, can anyone shed a light here?

Full Metal Alchemist
Hm, after watching few episoded of FMA, I have to agree with the Japs that this is the best anime this year(it got no 1 ranking in few categories for best anime), even beating naruto (naruto only managed no 10 in one category). What’s so good about it, is the story and not to mention the drama. There’s one episode about a scientist using his wife and daughter for experiment would surely bring tears to those who watch it.

Other things
Finally got engaged, looking forward in getting married. Leaving Westpac is another big step that I will mostly take soon. Learning web services implementation using Java is surely very exciting, see here.

Sasser hits WBC

Apparently yesterday, Sasser virus hit WBC, so I was told as I took a day off yesterday. Yesterday was very stressful day for my workmates as their PCs keep on shutting down. Some of them have to stay back until 5 pm (we finish the day at 4.30pm). Thank God I wasn’t there 🙂

Today Tech Support told us not to turn our Teller’s PC on until they have resolved the problem. Luckily after lunch, the system seems to work fine. Not sure how could a bank survive without its computer system.

I am back at CSE!!!

I am blogging from Leaf lab now, after attending COMP9316 lecture. Hmm feel excited being a student again.. Surprised that i still have my old username and password. CSE labs have flat screens now, nice..

Ah, CSE labs.. the good old days.

PDA Resurrected and DVDs

My PDA is miracolously back on! Although some of the part of the screen show some soft of “water mark” I think it’s because the soapy water left some residue behind the screen. But apart from that, it’s working fine, I have to reinstall the programs that I had on that though, it seems the accident wipe everything from the memory. And I am now nearly finish reading Dracula (up to chapter 23 out of 27), can’t wait to see the movie on DVD.

Been watching few DVDs lately, I got em free from QuickFlix, thanks to Sui for letting me know. I’ve watched The Last Emperor, Blade 2 and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Been wanting to watch The Last Emperor since I was little, it came out in Indo while I was in primary school, wasn’t allowed to watch it then since it’s rated 17th and above in Indo. Now got chance to finally watch it. The setting itself is beautiful and nice and the pace of the movie was quite fast for me. That might left me with the question “What’s the point of the movie?” after the finished watching it. So it’s just a movie of a life story of a person.. dunno what to get out from it.

Blade 2 was exceeding my expetation. The fighting scenes are really good and Blade is just a very cool dude (vampire).

Jesus Christ Superstar is a very interesting movie. The last few days of Jesus’ life on earth were “interpreted” musically in a sort of modern setting. Chrisitians watching this must put their theological caps off, for it doesn’t try to proclaim itself as a religious movie, hence there bound to be interpretations which are not according to the bible. For example: Judas as one of the main focus of the movie, portrayed as Jesus’ good friend who do things out of wanting to help Jesus, Jesus is portrayed as someone who doesn’t know the plan of the Father (ie he doesn’t know what will his death achieve) but he chose to go along with the Father’s plan. Despite thosel, I don’t think the movie is heretical, in fact it might make non christians interested in finding out about the person Jesus.

Tribute to my ill-fated short-lived HP IPAQ 1910

Ill fated is the right word to describe my PDA. One day, I dropped it on the bus when I was heading to Pelita Leaders Meeting, I realised it the second I stepped out of the bus (in front of Warrane College, Kford), one second too late, the bus was already moving.. Lina actually “rescued” my PDA, I called her after it happened, luckily she was in the car with her boss on the way to Kford. They chased the bus to Maroubra and managed to caught up with it and someone was very honest by handing it to the bus driver. And so my PDA was saved.

But I don’t think anything can save my PDA now.. Just now when I was preparing my bathtub for the end of the week relaxation bubble bath, I accidently dropped it to the bathub.. I was planning to continue reading Bram Stroker’s Dracula (which is a very good and pleasant reading, to my surprise) on it while bathing. [Mental note: electronic device and water dont mix.]

I will try to power on my PDA few hours after this, who knows by miracle it will come to its oldself.. Sigh, just when I finally started to find it useful.. and I might have to buy or borrow Dracula.
