Weekend Yapping

What a week it has been… Monday was my first training day, started from 8.30 till 16.30. Then Coles from 18.00 till 23.00. Similar schedule for Tueday but finish at 24.00. Wednesday and Thursday were spent on training and going out for dinner with parents.

Friday has arrived, rushed to campus to catch the baptism. Came to lead the bible study unprepared, I dont think anybody notice that. It’s not that I was good leading today’s study, but because I think I always look unprepared when I am leading.. I wonder how I can teach the bible better.. Maybe need to ask some feedbacks and need to stock up on knowledge. Knowledge that would also lead to my godliness, I hope, not mere knowledge.

Bible reading and prayer in the morning have been hard partly because I have to prepare for work and partly is because my parents were here (no privacy nor quiteness).

The outlook for next week should be similar but less busy hopefully, looking forward for the Asian Club 5.

This should be deemed as one of the busiest weeks of me life, I will be working for 53 hours this week by tomorrow (or today if the day starts at 24.00).

Oh so sleepy, not sure why bother blogging in 2.40am. The yapping should stop here.

Welcome Westpac, Goodbye Coles

I resigned from Coles today due to my employment with Westpac. It’s quite sad to leave Coles Broadway, the people there are really nice and helpful, even the “meanest” supervisor is still nice (well compared to the managers of a certain retailer that I worked for before .. 🙂 ) The only thing that I don’t particularly like is working on Saturday, I missed some activities with Pelitans and with Lina, she would be happy now that we can spend Saturday together.

I have started the training program yesterday, it would last for 3 weeks. So far training has been very fun, I learnt quite a few financial stuffs today particularly. It is quite exciting to know things like Expense per Income Ratio, the bank competition in Australia etc. It’s a lot of fun, because we learned these stuffs through some very attractive visuals (similar to monopoly board). We also covered Harrasment issues today, which is also very interesting, apparently you can get sued if you make a racial/sexual joke and someone happens to get offended.

As a side note by, me working for Westpac now, that means all major banks in Australia have been represented by FOCUS!! Chenny and Poman are working for St George, Polly is working for Commonwealth, Emillia for National Bank (Vincent as well?), Wenny is working for ANZ, Danny Au Yeung for Macquarie Bank (not sure whether he’s still there). Well, there you go..

I am really hoping to be settled with this employment, really hope to meet christians working there..

Naruto

Never thought of doing these character similarity tests and putting the result here, but when I found out about Naruto Personality Test, I just can’t resist it. Pelita ppl are currently crazy over Naruto thanks to Mey.

Which Naruto Character are You?
quiz by orangeday.net

Hm I was expecting to be Naruto (I like his raging desire to be acknowledged), but Sasuke is not bad.. So to those Naruto fans out there, what character are you?

Gadgets and us

Is it just me or do you realise that lately the gadgets are becoming more and more difficult/complex to use? I used to be able to figure out things without reading the manuals.. We know that manual is meant to be read, but where’s the fun of discovering new things by yourself?

Anyway I just taught my mom how to call and send SMS using her new 7650 Nokia mobile, it didn’t take me long to figure it out without reading the manual. It does seem a little bit complex to me let alone to my mom. And I still struggling to understand my new NEC808 mobile phone myself, I am supposedly able to send emaisl using that, but never get around it.. And I still don’t know how to set the radio stations on my discman..
Geez.. am I turning to… my mom???

Thoughts about Prophets and Teachers

I am pondering what it means by prophesying in NT (1 Cor 14), since
this is the spiritual gift that Paul regard Christians to pursue.

Some people argue that prophesying is similar to teaching the word.
Some say if you are relaying the word of the prophets (like telling/teaching
ppl what the bible says), then you are prophesying. The problem
I have with this is, why Paul used the word prophesying when what
he really meant was teaching. Other passages like Ephesians 4 also distinguish
the role of apostles, prophets, pastors and teachers…

Prophesying in the OT seems to mean communicating direct revelation from
God regarding things like events, warnings etc. Does the “directness from God”
a necessary condition for a prophecy? That is if I tell someone the message
from Isiah for instance, that wouldn’t be counted as “prophesying” but more
of “teaching”?

Should I fire up my ESV e-bible and go through all the references to the words prophets, prophesying, prophecies and see where those lead me.. but then again I don’t know if I have time to do that..
If only Pelita would do a bible study on this..
