I have been wanting my own domain name for awhile and decided that it’s time to get one since I actually have time to do website stuffs.
My site is hosted by Hostingshop, the price is quite cheap (in my opinion anyway) $125 per year. The Cpanel for website management is also very easy to use. The only thing that I wish I have is a telnet access.. I am not sure why, I guess I miss the uni days when I do editing and stuffs via telnet (remember vi anyone?).. I feel somehow limited by Cpanel GUI, would somebody please bring back to power of command line editor!
Anyways..
I can actually ask them to provide me with telnet access, but the procedure is quite tedious, I need to provide driver licence etc etc. For the time being I can do without telnet.
Playing with PHP, MySQL and CSS has been fun! I often forgot time when do these stuffs.
I also got chance to play around with GIMP, I am in the middle of exploring the possibilities with GIMP.. I will share with you my findings later.
I know my site looks kinda ugly at the moment, but be patience, I am learning here 🙂 A friend already objected to the color scheme.. phew, tough customer.
$125 is fair for hosting in Australia, but you probably can get quite a lot cheaper if you host your site overseas. Looks like the box is in Brisbane. Good deal! (btw, the URL does not work).
If you want, I can also change the URL of your blog to something like “blog.felixt.org” if you can change the DNS to point to here.
Hmm, I added a subdomain blog.felixt.org and redirect ed it to felixt.focuser.net.. is this what you have in mind??
Hmm. Not really. I mean you can point the DNS address of blog.felixt.org to here, and then I will serve accordingly, instead of doing a 301 redirect. But that’s okay. Whatever you want.
It’s a nice and easy to navigate website you got there. Learnt a few things about you that I never knew before :). Guess we haven’t really talked much lately eh?
Hey, cool site, its kinda weidrd tho, because my name is felix, and my last name starts with t as well =)
